Street Children Easter Newsletter 2007

Our family was recently blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl Leah, arriving one-month early, weighing five pounds to proud parents Louise and Christian. Leah has the love and support of a stable caring family who will cherish and support her for the rest of her life.
Wonderful moments like this bring family and friends together in joy and celebration of new beginnings of a new life and the hope and anticipation of what the future holds.
As the family gathered to celebrate, I could not help but think of the thousands of infants being born to children living on the streets of our world. Second and in some cases third generation street children, actually born on the street with no family, no help, no support…………..nothing but a few possessions and cardboard as blankets, if they are lucky. It is impossible to share with you the impact that this has on you when you experience it first hand … how can it be that in todays world children are being born to children on the streets?
At Casa Alianza all our programmes have a dedicated mother and baby programme and our street outreach teams are constantly working to support homeless children particularly vulnerable young mothers, trying to get them off the streets and assist them to turn their lives around, and their dreams into reality.
When homeless children are finally settled in permanent decent accommodation, the positive effects are truly remarkable: their health improves, their self-esteem increases, behavioural problems reduce and they start to engage academically.
This Easter, we ask you to please make a generous donation to help us make more dreams come true so that more children can leave the street and have the chance of a new beginning.
With grateful thanks, happy Easter
